Field Types
Field types are classes of data that govern the entry of data into a field. Hence, It is the foundation of a board. You can't make data entries on the board without field types. Quabbly has a host of field types, which include; Short text, Long text, Date, Number, People, amongst others.
List of Field types available on Quabbly
Barcode: This field type helps a user auto-generate barcodes.
Checkbox: This field type allows you to select multiple items from a predefined list of values you created.
Created by: It presents the name of the user who makes a record on the board.
Time created: After creating a Record, this field type displays when the user acted. It is advantageous in situations where accountability and punctuality are stressed.
Currency: It permits the entry of currency types.
Date: This field type allows a user to select single or multiple dates. It is best enjoyed with Calendar view, as it helps display information in a timeline.
Date and Time: A user can simultaneously enter Date and Time into the same field on a record.
Distance: It calculates the distance between two locations. For distance to function, there should be two location field types.
Dropdown: This is a field type that allows a user to choose one value from a predefined list.
Email: This field type solely allows the entry of email addresses.
File: A field type solely responsible for the uploading of a file on a record.
Formula: This field type can carry out various functions. It can be used for essential metric functions, combine two different fields, perform calculations with data garnered from other numbers or money fields, and generate a random alphanumeric string.
Link: This field type houses various forms of web links
Link to Board: This field type allows a user access to various data found on a different board.
Link to Record: This field allows a user access to data within records on a different board.
Location: This field type allows a user to input the local address of any place, person, event, etc. It is handy when using the Map view.
Long Text: A User can input a large body of text depending on its maximum character size.
Money: It is similar to the Currency field type, but a user is allowed to select the currency type and enter a monetary value in the Money field type
Number: This field type allows all forms of numeric entries into records.
People: This field type allows users to be displayed or assigned to a record.
Record Key: This is a field type that automatically generates a random alphanumeric string unique to each record.
Radio Buttons: This field type possesses similar characteristics to the Checkbox. It doesn’t permit multiple values to be displayed, hence making it different from the checkbox.
Short text: Similar to Long text, but it only permits a smaller body of the text.
Time: This field type allows a user to input time.
Updated By: This field type shows the user who updates a record.
Updated Date: This provides the date a record is updated

Checkbox Explained
You will also observe some checkboxes are found at the bottom of the page when creating a new field. These checkboxes are vital as they determine the representation of fields on the board.
Required: This option allows a user the ability to select which field should be mandatory to fill. Without filling all the necessary fields, the creation of a record will be unsuccessful.
Visible on Table: This option grants a user the power to hide or show specific fields on the board.
Make Field Unique: This makes a field special as one cannot name a field with the same value as a unique field. To reference the “Link to Record” and “Link to Board” field types, unique fields are used.
Allow Multiple Date: It allows a user to select more than one date when using the Date Field type.
Default Value: It permits a user to set a defined value for all records under a field. This default value can be edited by a user when a record is updated.
